One of the most iconic jackets in the collection is the one worn by Ed Hillary during the ascent of Everest in 1953. In Summit we have replicated the original fabric and colour but with up-dated and authentic accessories in brass. This contemporary jacket is perfect for urban outerwear but will extend to outdoor pursuits. Peter Hillary and his sons wore this jacket climbing on Carstenz Pyramid, Mont Blanc and Mt Elbrus in Russia.
It is produced from Ventile, densely woven from 100% cotton using the world’s finest long staple fibre. The combination of the dense weave and the swelling properties of the fibres when wet provide excellent weatherproofing. It is an entirely natural product that offers a unique level of comfort, look and feel as well as being windproof, highly breathable, very durable and quiet. Its roomy proportions enable the wearer to layer-up, with its articulated sleeve providing freedom of movement.
